Local Community: Working with the 西班牙语-speaking community

There are many opportunities to do either volunteer work or an academic internship for credit at Skidmore. Academic internships are generally for one, two, or three credits and are used towards the general liberal arts requirement. Opportunities include, among others, teaching 英语 as a second language to 西班牙语-speaking members in our region through the Latino Community Advocacy Program (under the Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council); working at WSWHE BOCES, Language and Culture Resource Center, which does outreach to the 西班牙语 community through education projects; and Literacy New York Greater Capital Region, which serves individuals who want to improve their reading, writing, and math skills, and their fluency in 英语.
